Producer / Rapper / Pianist / Songwriter
Matthew Faiumu Salapu, aka “Anonymouz", is a multi talented accomplished musician who has been widely involved in the NZ music industry.
Formally and classically trained in piano, in his younger years, he has achieved numerous placements, accolades and awards, including the prestigious “Ministers Plate” 1998, Auckland regional finalist in the “Smokefree Rockquest” (playing bass guitar in heavy metal band “Late Harvest”) and second placings at the “Manukau Youth Centre” and “Mai FM” talent quests as a producer/rapper in 1999.
Salapu tutors piano, music theory, music composition, DJ basics and Hip Hop Music. He was appointed choir master at the early age of 14, regularly holds hiphop workshops in South Auckland and is founding member of the Pacific Music Awards Committee, actively involving himself in voluntary and community work.
More recent awards includes finalist for the 2007 “Tui Award” for best Pacific album “In Your Name We Pray” by youth group “A’mene” which he wrote and produced and the “Phillip Fuemena” Award in 2008 for Most Promising Artist.
As “Anonymouz Workz Ltd” Salapu has produced for many clients including RnB group “For Da Grind” “4DG” (consisting of Element-X and Te Vaka members) also an album for hip hop artist “Ermenhn” (featuring Chong-Nee, PNC, Dei Hamo, Temple Jones, Mr Sicc, Young Sid and Gangsta Ridd of Boo-Ya Tribe).
2008 has seen Anonymouz perform in the Manukau Waitangi Day celebrations, the Urban Streetwear section for Style Pasifika (at Vector Arena), the Pacific Arts Awards at Manukau’s TelstraClear, “Remix the Orchestra” at the Otara Music and Arts centre - a collaboration of the Auckland Philharmonic Orchestra and local youth, and guest speaker at Manukau’s TelstraClear “Pecha Kucha” as part of the Festival of Arts.
After many years of working behind the scenes in the NZ Music Industry “Anonymouz” steps to the foreground with a powerful first up single sure to turn heads and garner widespread interest.
“CAUGHT UP IN THE GAME” the blazing debut single from this accomplished and talented Producer and Rapper.
Following on from this first single is an intimate, couples conversation in his just released single, ANTICIPATIN’.
An elegant blend of Mid 90’s influenced Hip Hop and R’n’B, his smooth production features the top class talent of Miguel Fuentes (George Benson, Patti La Belle) on percussion, Dixon Nacey (Samsom Nacey Haines Trio) on guitar, and Semi Leo (Allegro, The Agressors) on bass guitar.
Also featuring the up and coming vocal talents of Jess Matthews and Deuce, the track is a sophisticated tribute to spending romantic evenings out with that someone special!
